It took a bit for me to get her to her well check appointment because Carly got sick like the rest of us. I finally went today. I gave her tylenol before we left to take the edge off the shots. When she was getting weighed she peed all over the water proof mat they put on there and off the mat as well...all over the scale actually. Once I cleaned her up, I picked her up and she puked all over me. That girl wasn't going down with out a fight. lol. She's got a terrible cough but that's the last of the cold she had. Yesterday she had a coughing fit so bad that she vomited ALL of her food (about 4 oz) up all over me and the couch. Anyway, the doctor said that Carly looked great and was growing perfectly. (The second picture here of her was taken while she was sick so her eyes are all red, watery and puffy. Looks a little like she smoked a dubie but I assure you, we don't allow that in our family.)
Carly is such a delight to be around. In the mornings she is all smiles. She likes to talk to our wedding pictures too. Whenever she's being held over my shoulder while I'm sitting on the couch, she looks up at our wedding pictures hanging on the wall and coos and smiles. It's so cute. Almost like she's talking to someone in them. One thing though, she doesn't like to give up her burps after a feeding. The past week I will try burping her for like 1-2 HOURS and finally give up. Normally I'd just lay her down and wait till she starts crying to get the burp out but she won't finish eating on the other side if I don't get that dang burp out of her. So then it's like she's snacking, I lay her down for the night, and she won't sleep through the night any more b/c she wakes up hungry b/c she never finished eating. What do I do??? Suggestions are very appreciated.
We're going to see Nonie and Pop today in AZ. I guess there is a big carnival out there tomorrow with a petting zoo and pony rides so we thought we'd go to that instead of Easter. So when we get back I'll post more and I'm sure we'll have lots of pictures from it.

Girl's Night In

Tonight Joseph went on a scout camp out. Ella was kind of sad that he was leaving with out her. When he left she said, "Ella...camp-een tooooo." So I told her that we could go camping in the living room with her tent. We put up her pink camo tent and then headed to the kitchen to make foil dinners like Daddy had taken to his camp out. We first do the potatoes. Ella washed them and I cut them. Next were the carrots. After they were washed and I was cutting them, Ella asked if she could eat some of them..."Me eat dis?" I told her she could and we talked while we made dinner. Finally came the meat. I would hold the ground beef in my hand and she would sprinkle the seasonings in the meat. Then I would squish the meat together to mix it all in. She wanted to help so I rolled up her sleeves and let her feel the meat squish between her fingers. Next thing I notice, she pops a ball of raw meat in her mouth, closes her eyes to savor the taste and says, "Mmmm Mmmm, nummies". I was like, "Ahhhh! NO! NO! Spit it out, spit it out spit it out!" Luckily she listened to me but I had to keep saying spit it out till finally she did. The dinners turned out pretty good and we sat in her tent while we went on a bear hunt, ate and sang songs. She is such a creative little girl. After the bear hunt she was pointing to all of the miniature imaginary bears in the tent. Once it became time to go to bed we moved the tent from the living room to her bed room. We read stories, sang songs, said prayers and I put her to bed. It was actually pretty fun to play with her and participate in her cute personality. I think she had a lot of fun too. Here are some more pictures...

Carly was invited but snoozed through all the festivities.
Last night for Valentine's day Joseph and I were going to go ice skating but everyone has been sick so we decided to wait till the weekend. (and our babysitter was kind of a flop) So while I put the girls down to bed Joseph went out and got some fillet Mignon and made a delicious candle lit dinner for us. It was so sweet and the food was so good. I think my favorite part was when Joseph was trying to light the candle. He couldn't find any lighters or matches so he went out side and came in with a blow torch and lit the candle with a blow torch. Made me laugh... He is all man. :) Earlier that day my brother and his girlfriend came over and Joseph came home to have Valentine's Day brunch with heart shaped french toast and pink milk. I got a few pictures of the girls. I think Ella had a lot of fun celebrating the holiday and we worked on saying "I love you" with words. (as opposed to using made up signs for it.)

Get to know me
I've been "tagged" by Chandra! (sorry it took me a while)
A. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning.
B. Each player answers the questions about themselves.
C. At the end of the post, the player then tags 5 people and posts their names then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.
10 years ago: I had been living in Missouri for a year and just started High School. Nothing too significant
5 things on my to do list today:
1) Call the dr. to make my postpartum check up.
2) Clean up my room.
3) Story/Signing Time at the Library at 10 am
4) Laundry, Laundry, and more Laundry
5) Disinfect my apt all over again b/c now Joseph is a sicky bear.
Snacks I enjoy: Carmel, Kashi Cookies (totally natural and sooo yummy), wheat thins, any candy, fruit snacks/gummies, almonds with craisins, pretty much anything sweet.
What I would do if I were suddenly a billionaire: I'd first pay off all of our debt. Then buy a nice house, with a big back yard, in a good area with great schools. Hire an interior decorator and buy whatever they suggest for my new home. Get a permanent personal trainer, get a dog, buy a new car, have more kids and start a retirement fund for Joseph and I, put my kids in the activities they want. When all is said and done, I'd go shopping every day.
3 of my bad habits: 1.Procrastinating, ugh, it's bad. 2. I have so many chances to get the sleep I need but I always find something "better" to do. 3. Poor time management. I seem to be late all the time for things. Either that or rushing to get somewhere and I get to my appt. right on the dot.
5 places I have lived: Utah, Texas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri
5 jobs I have had: 1) Bra Specialist at Victoria's Secret 2) A Nanny in UT 3)Trainer and Aerobics Instructor at a community center and a gym 3) A 2 and 3 yr. old teacher at an early intervention center 4) Taco Bell, blah 5) A Mommy
5 things people don't know about me:
1)I fell out of a 2 story window when I was two years old and walked away from it.
2)I have sensory issues and don't like to touch or eat things that feel weird to me.
3)I am scared of everything...heights, moths, pretty much any animal/insect that flies, the dark, scary movies, driving.... the list goes on.
4)I don't like to be touched. There are only a few people that can give me a hug and you know who you are. I've gotten better about giving hugs but it's a work in progress.
5)I get panic attacks when I'm about to meet old friends for the first time in a few years. (weird I know! I think it's b/c I get so excited that I can't handle it. Ok! I said it was weird. :) )
I tag Steph, Erin, Abbers, Alissa, and Samantha

Ella Update

Here's my little baby in the Hospital. The paramedics had to take her wet clothes off and asked me to get her some clean panties and I did but then she went into another seizure so my mind just went blank and I never gave them to her, nor did I think to bring clothes for her so here she is in all her nakedness. They brought her in completely naked. Kind of a funny picture now. At least she got a diaper. :)
She apparently had a bad virus. Ella had a temp, on average, of 101 for two days and last night it finally broke. I had been sleeping with her the past couple nights so that I know she's ok. We've been making her sleep in summer pjs with out any blankets on, just a thin sheet and the heat is off in our house. (so it's been about 58 degrees in our house) It was pretty hard to have her cry b/c she's cold and I couldn't help her. But last night her fever broke and she's had a normal temp all day today. She's been pretty tired (took a 3 hour nap) but at least the fever is gone. I quarantined the whole house today. Sanitized and disinfected every thing I could think of that hands touch...door knobs, light switches, walls, every single one of Ella's toys, etc. I really hope Carly doesn't get it. She's got a cold and hopefully that's all. Thanks for all your comments, thoughts and prayers. After the scare that we had I'm not taking any smile or silly thing she does for granted and have been soaking up as much snuggle time as I can. I'm so glad that we have such cute little girls and really believe that Heavenly Father is watching over our family.
We got Ella's 2 year pictures on Monday so here are some of the proofs...

Our Worst Nightmare
It all started at 4 am this morning. I was feeding Carly and Ella started crying so I sent Joseph in to get her. He brought her back to me and told me he didn't know why she was crying. I felt her head and she was burning up so I took her temp and it was 101. So we give her Tylenol and she goes back to bed. We all woke up around 9 am and got ready for Carly's dr. appt. (she's been a little snuffly and has a bunch of mucus in her spit up). Ella was a little warm so I gave her some more Tylenol and we headed out the door. The dr. appt. was for 11am. After finding out that Carly has a bit of a cold we leave and go take lunch to daddy. Ella was complaining that she was cold the whole time so I put a coat on her and we just went home. Ella and Carly both fell asleep in the car. When we got home (2 pm) I brought Carly in first and then went back and scooped Ella up to put her in bed. She woke up and told me she was cold again but she was burning up. I laid her in bed and went to get her a popsicle. When I came back with it she tried sitting up against the wall but just kind of slid down the side of the wall. I took her temp and it was 102.4 so I gave her some more Tylenol and went out to put Carly to bed. Right when I walked out of the room I heard Ella cry real faintly, "Mommy, mommy, mommy" So I went back in and she was gulping like she was going to throw up. I asked her if she was going to throw up and she didn't answer. So I picked her up and took her to the sink with her still clutching her popsicle. She wasn't throwing up but she was still gulping and staring at me with wide eyes. I said, "Ella, are you ok?" No answer, she just had a really scared look on her eyes. I kept prodding her, "Ella, Ella are you ok? Do you need to throw up?" Then she tried saying "mommy" but it came out, "muh, muh, mmmmmm..mm.mm.." Her arm went limp and she dropped her popsicle and just stared at me barely able to mumble. I knew something was really wrong and it was so so scary I literally thought she was going into a coma or dying. I knew I had to get that fever down now so I ran to the tub put her in (clothes and all) and turned on the cold water. I tried to lean her up against the wall of the tub but she just slid down it and was still starring into space. She was making a gurgling sound like she was drowning. I ran to get my phone, called 911 (2:27 pm) and ran back to her. While I did this I realized that Ella's whole body was jolting and she was still starring blankly, her eyes glazed over. I told the 911 guy that I had a 2 yr. old that I thought was having a seizure. He told me to get her out of the tub, dry her off and put her on the bed. Ella's whole body was stiff and her body was still jolting a lot. Her lips started to turn blue, then purple. Then her ears were purple and about a min. later her whole face was purple like she couldn't breath. Then she started foaming at the mouth. 911 guy told me to turn her on her side and not to touch her b/c she needed to cool off and if I held her or even put my hands on her then my body heat would make it not possible for her body to cool off. So I had to stand there, bawling on the phone to 911 guy and just watch my two year old seizing, turning purple, and foaming at the mouth. The paramedics came in what seemed like 20 min (about 3 min. in real time) and took over. They put two IVs in her and an oxygen mask. She started to come out of the seizure (she seized for 20 min.) and get really scared. She was crying and started to pull the mask off of her. After about 5 min she started to seize again. They gave her this shot in the leg that made the seizure stop. Then they took (2:40 pm) her by ambulance (completely naked) while I called a neighbor to come be with Carly. Then I went with another paramedic to meet Joseph at the hospital.
When we arrived at the hospital and saw Ella she was laying there in one of those hospital cribs playing with a cord that went to her blood pressure machine. She was so lethargic and out of it, she wouldn't even acknowledge us. She reminded me of a vegetable, except she was playing with the cord. After about an hour she started crying and wanted to be held. (a good sign b/c at least she was a little more like herself.) Then they said that they wanted a urine sample and were going to put a catheter in. (remembering your trauma Samantha...) I asked them if I could get her to go potty by herself in a cup. We tried for like 15 min but when she started falling asleep on the toilet I decided to call it quits. So there was more crying and trauma of them sticking a cath in her and then a thermometer up her bum. Her urine came back clean (no UTI) and we stayed for about another 2 hours to watch her fever and got discharged.
We are finally home and Ella turned back into the Ella Bella we know. She was jumping around the room and talking so much it seemed like she was making up for lost time. I'm scared for her to sleep though. Mainly b/c I was putting her down for a nap when she started seizing. I'm scared that it's going to happen in the middle of the night and us not know. I'm glad I was there for her but honestly, that was the worse thing I've ever had to do, to watch her like that. I can't get that image out of my head of her turning blue and her body jolting uncontrollably. Joseph gave her a blessing and I think I'm going to sleep with her tonight.
The doctors told me that what she had was called a Febrile Seizure. It's a seizure caused by a fever spiking too high, too fast. They said that in some children their brains just can't take the heat and their body seizes to bring their body temp down. Apparently it's not that uncommon in small children. Now that Ella has had one they said she's more likely to have more when she gets fevers. So now we have to watch her fevers every 2 hours to make sure it doesn't spike again. We are really praying for her to get through this quickly. One thing they said was, was to not ever put your child into pure cold water. It should be a temped bath (which I knew I just panicked and didn't really have time to test the water) b/c if it's too cold their body cools down too fast and then to try and warm itself up the body heat rises too fast again. (note to all you moms out their) So if this ever happens to your child, you're supposed to lay them on a flat surface, on their side (so they don't choke on their saliva or tongue) with a pillow under their head and call 911.

Look Who I Found!

My brother Adam got married in the SLC temple on the 8th of January. So Joseph, Ella, Carly and I all made the trek up to SLC to attend.
Then 3 weeks later we all flew out to my homeland, Missouri, for his reception. I love Missouri and missed it a lot. Especially my best friend Abbers. I've actually been blessed enough to make it out to Missouri once a year since I left back in Oct. of 'o4 to go visit Abbs and it's been fun. This time we got both of our families together for the first time to meet. It was so much fun getting to meet Abbie's new husband and for them to meet Carly.
Abbie and her husband took us out for some great bbq and we got to hang out at her house for a bit. Next time Abb...it's your turn to come out to Vegas! :)
And what would a Morgan and Abbie reunion be with out a "Super Model Documentary Hour"?
Joseph also got to meet up with his old mission buddy Lanny.
I was glad that Joseph had someone to hang out with also b/c I was all about catching up with my friends. Sorry, this blog is probably hard to relate to if you didn't go to college with me but I had to show all the girls pictures. Here are some other pictures from the week...
My little helper. She's got this stool we gave her so she could wash her hands and go potty by herself and she carries it around the house and helps me clean (and get into things.)
Here's our little love bug, Carly-Car.
This next picture is great...Let me explain... This is my Uncle Andy and Aunt Sarah. As a child Andy used to terrorize me and my sister by hanging us over the 3rd story balcony at my grandparent's house by our feet and tell us he's going to drop us. Then he'd start swinging us... anything to make us cry. He'd also hold us up to the ceiling fan and tell us he was going to chop our heads off. Not only this but he would have us sit on his back while he watched Days of Our Lives and we would scratch his back for 1 hour for a whole nickle! Anyway, we love to reminisce and give him crap about it. So they were in Vegas last week and called us up so we could hang out. Ella was deathly afraid of him and I would have to hold her hand just so she could walk past him. They took a picture with our kids and when Andy leaned in to get close that was the last straw and Ella flipped out. I guess she could sense what he did to her mommy. lol We love you Andy!
